The first thing that comes to mind when hearing the word beach is sun, sand and sea, however when we arrive at our destination we must take into account the situation in which the place is.

And it is that when we arrive we must notice the color of the flag or signal that is there, since with this we can know if we are in a safe or dangerous place to go swimming in the sea.

There are several factors that define the flag color that we can find on a beach, but here we will tell you what each color represents, so that on your next visit you will consider the best option to spend an incredible day.

First we will say that the most common colors of flags that we can find are: Green, Yellow, Red, Black and White, other flags that we can find in a less usual way are: Blue, Red with Black and flag with Black and White squares.

Likewise, sometimes we could come across signs that indicate the free practice of surfing, the place where the lifeguard is located, if it is a beach where we should not swim because of some type of unexpected animal (sharks) and finally if we should not practice some aquatic activity in the sea.

-Green flag:
This is the flag color that we always want to find, and the green color indicates that it is a completely safe beach to enjoy a day at sea with absolute safety and confidence.

-Yellow flag:
This is the color that indicates caution, this means that we can bathe and enjoy the sea, but the waves are a little stronger and more choppy than normal, that is why it will be better to take our precautions when observing this flag.

-Red flag:
This is the color that we would not like to find when we get to enjoy a day at the beach, because the red color indicates that it is a dangerous area to be there and therefore it is not recommended that when we see this flag we enter to bathe sea because it could be very dangerous.

-Black flag:
This flag color ultimately indicates that weather and wave conditions do not allow access to the beach, and that therefore it will be impossible to access it because it is completely closed due to bad weather.

-White flag:
This flag is very typical to find on Mazatlan beaches especially in summer and is that the white flag represents danger of mollusks or animals, which in the specific case of Mazatlán the white color is used to inform bathers of the presence of the "burners ”That in rainy seasons abound in this region.

As a specific mention we will say the meaning of the rest of the flags, the blue flag is a distinction granted by the Association of Environmental and Consumer Education based on water quality, environmental management and service, the red and black flag indicates the existence of suction wells or channels due to the breakage of sandbanks and finally the black and white checkered flag indicates that it is a surfing area and bathing is dangerous due to the risk that a board will hit you.

We must comply with the indications that the type of flag indicates to us to avoid any mishap, therefore if you want to enjoy pleasant and safe days on the beach, we recommend staying in a hotel on the shore of the beach in Mazatlan since these have with lifeguards and you will feel safer on your visit to the sea.
