In recent years, a soccer team has made the port come alive with excitement, we’re talking about the local team, Mazatlan F.C.
This team has brought together young and old alike in one place, sharing the same passion: Soccer.
Mazatlan Futbol Club is a professional soccer team that currently competes in Mexico’s First Division, part of the Mexican Football League, better known as Liga MX.
This soccer club was founded on June 2, 2020 (notably during the pandemic) and is based at the “El Encanto” Stadium. Their nickname is “Los Cañoneros” (The Gunners).
However, this club not only brings together fans from Mazatlan, but also, depending on the rival, many visitors come to the port to support their team and stay in Mazatlan hotels to rest and enjoy a more comfortable stay.
Mazatlan F.C.’s home games are usually held on Fridays every two weeks at 8:00 p.m. (local time), so many visitors come to enjoy the match and take the opportunity to spend the whole weekend exploring the Pearl of the Pacific.
The “El Encanto” soccer stadium is the official home of Mazatlan F.C. This beautiful venue was inaugurated on July 27, 2020, and has a capacity of 25,000 spectators. It is located on Avenida Múnich, in the Pradera Dorada neighborhood.
Currently, the team is owned by Grupo Salinas, with Jaime Ordiales serving as the sporting president, and the “Cañoneros” are coached by the renowned Uruguayan Robert Dante Siboldi, a manager with extensive experience in Liga MX.
For the 2025–2026 Apertura tournament, Mazatlan F.C.’s uniform colors are:
-Home: Purple jersey, purple shorts, and purple socks.
-Away: Orange jersey, orange shorts, and orange socks.
-Alternate: Purple jersey, black shorts, and purple socks.
Among the most notable players in the current squad are Nicolas Benedetti, Anderson Duarte, and Sebastián Fierro.
Mazatlan FC’s main supporters’ group is called "Los Hijos del Kraken", also known as the “Official Supporters". Another important fan group of the Mazatlan side is "La Banda del Pacifico".
