With a major investment in renovations that began in late 2023, the new Seaman's House Museum is now complete.

The space was renovated because the building provided accommodation for merchant seamen from 1946 to 1990 in case of emergency or financial need.

Last October, the Casa del Marino Museum opened its doors. It was the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development (Sedatu) that rescued this symbolic space in Mazatlan through the Urban Improvement Program (PMU).

With an investment of 93 million pesos, the Casa del Marino has been renovated as a museum and cultural development center, undoubtedly a new interactive experience that visitors to Mazatlan hotels can't miss.

The facilities of this new facility feature infographics, screens, and educational games. Furthermore, the 31st of March Fort was also included in this restoration project. It's worth noting that this fort was built in 1893 by order of Porfirio Díaz.

In addition to being a museum and cultural development center, this space also features a skate park and a public plaza facing the beach. This maritime-themed museum is focused on children and young people, and its main function is to teach about the importance of maritime life.

The location of the Casa del Marino is extremely privileged, due to its location on the boardwalk at the edge of the beach. This new museum highlights the importance of the environment, the life of sailors, and the history of Mazatlan.

This new museum in Mazatlan is an added bonus for all tourists visiting the port. Beyond having fun, interacting, and learning something new, they will also learn more about the history of maritime life.

The Casa del Marino Museum in Mazatlan will have four rooms:

-Room 1: Dive In

-Room 2: Let's Sail

-Room 3: Let's Sail

-Room 4: Tell Me a Story

Each of these rooms features activities about the maritime life of sailors, uniforms, ship parts, essential pieces and navigation keys, as well as testimonies from sailor couples.

Admission to the museum will be completely free and will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

To enjoy this and all of Mazatlan's museums, an excellent option is to stay at a beachside hotel in Mazatlan, so you can have an unparalleled experience in the port.
