At some point we have all visited the beach and it is home to hundreds of sea shells that provide it with great benefits.

In this article we will learn more about these incredible organisms and why they are said to be of great help to the oceans.

First we will start by knowing what sea shells are, they are exoskeletons that shed different aquatic species, mainly the following mollusks: snails, brachiopods, clams and oysters, as well as sea urchins.

They are composed mainly of proteins and calcium carbonate, which is why over time they disintegrate and adhere to the sand, increasing the immensity of the beaches.

The formation of seashells occurs thanks to the calcium carbonate found in food, when this compound is assimilated by the blood, it binds in a skin tissue that when in contact with proteins causes the formation of the "Conchiolin".

This conchiolin combines with the exterior of the mollusk or crab and a shell species is generated that slowly grows to form a sea shell.

Now we will talk about all the great benefits that these sea shells bring to oceans and animals to further understand their importance.

1-They help to clean the waters of the sea (thanks to its great properties)

2-They prevent soil erosion on the beaches (they prevent the sand from cracking)

3-The crabs take the shells as a shelter and a place to live (it is the animal that we can find most inhabiting the sea shells)

4-Some birds use carcasses on the beach to build their nests.

5-The queen shell provides food for sea turtles and sharks.

6-Maintain a "bioindicating" presence which means that their presence is of good health in the habitat.

7- Over time they become nutrients for organisms.

8-Many fish use them to hide or for their protein to eat them.

9-Forcefully stop excess seaweed.

If you want to see this phenomenon personally, we recommend staying in hotels on the beach, which will be great allies to live incredible experiences.

You already know, the next time you visit a beach, do not take the sea shells to misuse it in your home, better enjoy them on the beach and let them continue to do their work as great allies of beaches, oceans And animals.
